Just before the holidays an intrepid group went out to Bushwick to visit the Kings County Distillery*, New York’s oldest (at six months) distillery. We started at Roberta’s (pizza highly recommended) and then walked over to the distillery, where Colin took us through the labour-intensive process of making whiskey. Operating under a farm distillery license means at least half of the ingredients (in their case, corn) have to be sourced within New York State. We then moved into the tasting room, where we tried moonshine and (their first-ever) cask-aged bourbon.
